Basis for Recommendation

The ongoing competency assessment of train drivers in relation to their duties following a Hot Axle Box Detector alarm is not assessed, based on this the following safety recommendation is made in order to improve the training and competency management of staff:

IÉ should update its competency management system for train drivers to include assessment of their competency in relation to their tasks following a Hot Axle Box Detector alarm.
